Yeast infection 3 days prior to laparoscopy with possible vaginal hysterectomy???!!!?

I have an exploratory laparoscopy with possible vaginal hysterectomy scheduled in 3 days. There is some concern of if I should treat a yeast infection wth an instertable monistat. help? Should I just go to ER?

Why go to the E.R. and have to pay a lot of money for a visit when you could just call your dr. now? He can tell you what is best. I had a laproscopy when I was 19 and a vaginal hysterectomy at 29. The best one was a vaginal hysterectomy cause I could have a spinal and epidural that stayed in for post op pain management. I had a terrible experience with the lap as I was throwing up for three days after due to the general anesthesia. I don’t think I’d agree to a hysterectomy as it has a long recovery (at least six weeks) where a lap you will have about two to three days of incisional pain. I was running two weeks after my lap. A hysterctomy is major surgery, most women who have vaginal or abdominal hysterectomies can have over 100 internal stitches that help hold you together inside. Plus you will have stitches at the top of your vagina where the cervix was. This is necessary so that the tubes and ovaries don’t hang down. I know this sounds gross but please don’t have sex until after you see your dr. There have been women who have had complications after having a hysterectomy such as the area that’s stitched up top can be torn into or get a hole up there. There was one woman who couldn’t wait to have sex again and she went to the E.R. with her intestines hanging out of her vagina. Pretty gross but after the uterus is removed the intestines just fall down since there’s more room in the belly. There is a pill that can be taken orally and if you have an active yeast or bacterial infection the surgery may be delayed. You wouldn’t want to risk a further infection inside when you are at higher risk. Even though I had a hysterectomy and did everything I was told to do I still had complications and the area where the vagina is stitched up got granulation tissue there that needed a special medicine put on the scar tissue to help it heal.
Before my laporoscopy my dr. said it had to be after my period but he didn’t say if it was after I started or after it ended. Anyway I went in bleeding still for my hysterectomy cause dr’s going to see blood anyway. If you are bleeding I don’t know if the dr. will want to do the lap. I’d want to know the diagnosis before agreeing to the lap. Please call the dr. and tell him you have what you think is a yeast infection. Also check out http://www.hystersisters.com as they have a lot of advice. I don’t know how long you’ve known your dr. for but when I had the lap, it was after seeing the dr. for the first time. Have you had any kids? I was lucky to have had my kids when I did in my 20’s so I could agree to the hysterectomy. Lots of women regret having to need a hysterectomy (Cancer is one main reason that it should be done not endometriosis cause endo can be lasered out like mine was) and if your dr. says lap possible vaginal hysterectomy I’d see another dr. about this. You don’t want to regret doing this. Are you sure your dr. is not just surgery happy? Please list details and if you’ve had kids yet.
