It’s not going to hurt to use it internally, but it’s not potent enough to get rid of your infection. You need to use a full course of treatment of full strength stuff to heal it.
Also, if it’s your first infection, you should visit your doctor to make sure that it is actually a yeast infection and not something else.
Keep in mind too that monistat is not particularly effective for many yeast infections these days. If the symptoms don’t start to improve within a few days of treatment, you may need a prescription.
Monistat is miconazole, the little tube is the same stuff as the big tube, the only difference is there isn’t enough to treat the overgrowth of yeast effectively…. suggest you get another large tube, but you can use the little one until you can get to the store for the large one.
I have had problems with yeast infection for the past 4 years. I never thought I would get rid of it. it kept on coming back after a few days after the antibiotic treatment from my Gynecologist.
The Miconazole Nitrate only alleviates the burning/itching associated with the yeast infection but will not cure it. For me it didn’t so anything – the burning and itching was still there. I did a research and found out that antibiotics kill the good bacteria found in the body and the yeast goes out of control when that happens. You need to treat it from the inside.
Long story short, aftre my research, I used Caprylic Acid capsules. I used it for 3 months – you can find instructions on the package. I haven’t had a recurring yeast infection since then – 1 year ago. While taking Caprylic Acid I also took Black Walnut capsules, Grapeseed Extract
You can find it at Whole Foods Market/Harry’s or online.
In conjunction use probiotics and avoid sugar, refined carbohydrates and other foods that tend to promote the growth of candida yeast.
Get well soon!
