Yes, there is a chance that you can spread "cold sores" to your own genitals, it is rare, but it does happen. The virus only lives for a few seconds off of the body and will only live that long in extremely unlikely conditions (correct humidity, temperature and chemical environment)
You can spread it to your partners genital through oral sex and other types of contact also and that is very common.
Use caution, inform your partners that there is a risk and use good hygiene (wash your hands after touching your sores)

herpes falls into two categories type one and type two – they are both different and efect different parts of the body. if this is a fresh infection then i would suggest that you have caught this off a sexual partner.
the good news is, once you get them downstairs you dont get them upstairs as the downstairs infection is dominant.
the bad news is you have herpes. down there. explain that to your partner.
