Lamisil AT or a generic counterpart with a matching active ingredient is the best.

It's just athletes foot cream. It poses no major health risk to the cat as long as the cat isn't liking obscene ammounts.

Just apply once a day and rub it in real well. Should be gone in a few weeks.

Good luck!

We have been using Lamisil on cats at our shelter for YEARS!!!!! They will lick it off each other, but it is fine. We have never had any side effects at all. We have treated MANY outbreaks, including 60 cats taken from the house of a hoarder. All were treated with Lamisil and did fine.

Get the generic from Wal-Mart, or CVS...it is cheaper.

There is also an OTC shampoo in the humand section...forget what it is called, but the active ingredient is Ketaconazole. You can shampoo with that two to three time weekly for a faster treatment.....but bathing cats can be a pain!!!!

I used Miconazole (it's generic) which is $8 a tube, on both my cat and the spot he gave me on my leg. It worked very well. DO NOT scrub at the area the ringworm is on, that spreads the spores. I didn't know that when I first started and made the spot bigger on him. Put the cream on in a small amount, and press it into the edge of the fur.

If you want a brand name, it's Monistat 3. It took a month for his to clear up, and twice that for me. Which was on par with what the pharmacist said about humans--takes two months to go away on us.
