My cats have ringworm, am I supposed to scrub the lesions everyday before applying antifungal creme?

The lesions have little brown flakes on them does this mean it is healing or is this the fungus trying to come back? Also how long before they will not be contagious anymore and when will the sores go away?

DO NOT SCRUB! That spreads the spores and makes the area more infected, getting larger. No you don’t need to pre-clean the area just put the cream on.
DAB on the cream, do it three times a day with only a small amount not a big gob, and gently work it into the edges of the bare spot along where the fur is. You’ll see new fur growth in a week. It takes a month to completely clear up in a cat. Two months to clear up in humans.
Use soap and water to wash your hands afterwards so it doesn’t transfer to you. It’s not always as contagious as they say. My cat had one spot, gave me one spot, and none of the other cats in the household got it at all.
do not scrub it! just apply the cream and wash your hands very well as this can spread to you. It takes about 4-6 weeks for it to go away.
My White, Odd~Eyed, 15 yr old Cat, "Casper" had Ringworm, when I got him, as an 8 week old kitten; he had been take to a Vet, to be euthanized, because of this, the owner was obviously "ignorant", or else had the infection spread to his children or himself…I dunno…But she could NOT bring herself to do it! (Thank Goodness!)
The Vet was treating him with pills, unfortunately, the name of the medication "escapes" me, after 15 yrs! But I am sure if you ask a Vet, they could inform you.
Casper has an "addiction" to oleo, to this day, because the Vet used to give this to him, as a reward, for taking his pills.
He also has a permanent "bald" place, on the back of his neck, where his collar lays. The fur never grew back, there…
Maybe I was not afraid of skin problems, due to a life-long problem with Psoriasis, myself…
Casper is a "delight", never give up on these sorts of problems… Love your Kitties, and they will be strong and Healthy!
