how to tell the difference between and ingrown hair and herpes?
Hey everyone
I have already explained that because of an incidence more then three years ago i am getting tested for herpes. Now i am paranoid that i have the blisters. I found what appears to be a sore in grown hair but its too fair down for me to get a close look. Its isnt a pimple and its the only one i have ( i checked the whole area).
So how do i tell if its a herpes blister or ingrown hair?

The best way is to go for check up/consultation. Lab tests are the only accurate way to tell the difference.
I’m not a doctor. But I think the difference between an in grown hair and herpes is that you CAN NOT get an in grown hair from having sexual relations. But, like I said, I am not a doctor.
the only way it could be an ingrown hair is if you have shaved down there. go get tested today while you have the blister present they can swab it and take a blood test.
also try not to be so stressed out about it. i know its rough but if it is herpes and since you aren’t on medication the outbreak could get worse.
Even doctors can get the two confused if they don’t swab the blister. Inmy experience a herpes blister will last longer than an ingrown hair (i.e. a week to 10 days) and herpes outbreaks are accompanied with twinges in the groin area beforehand. The only way to know for sure is to get it swabbed, so insist on this even if the doctor tells you it’s an ingrown hair or a blocked follicle. Good luck, and if it does turn out to be one of the herpes simplex viruses then don’t sweat it, most people have it anyway!
The only way is getting a culture and getting it checked at the lab. Don’t be afraid to see a dr.
I understand your situation clearly, number one get tested for any STD’s because if you fear that you may have gotten something its best to know exactly what it is and not play a guessing game. But the way it sounds right now its not an STD. I groom and yes every now and then I do get the same thing, and its not herpes cause I’ve been checked out and have been tested negative and I’ve been married since the incident to cause me to believe I might have not gotten an STD. It can come from one of two things ingrown hair from grooming, and or not properly cleaning of ones self. Either way it tends to go away in a few short days, but have a sense of showing up later.
