My Son is 4 years old and is often on antibiotics.
He doesnt have any serious conditions, but whenever i take
him to GP for anything,he prescribes antibiotic for him.

a lot of doctors prescribe them just to shut you up. NO! It is not ok! giving a lot of antibiotic often to a child prevents him from building up the immunity that he needs to combat normal childhood illnesses. the more exposure to antibiotics, the more likely he could get a very serious infection in the future that is RESISTANT to antibiotics.
Antibiotics are only necessary if the child has a very high temp for a few days and isn’t getting any better on his own. otherwise, just let him get the normal colds, sore throats etc… so he can fight them off by himself and build up the immunity.
he should only be giver antibiotics for a bacterial type infection. If he is given an antibiotic for everything he will build up a resistence and then when he needs them they will no longer be effective
Dr.s tend to over do it on the antibiotics. Unless there is a proven bacterial infection, there is no need for antibiotics. If he is prescribing them for every little thing your son’s body will become amune to them and then when something big comes up the antibiotics won’t work. Try finding a dr that uses more natural cures and less antibiotics.
Young children, especially under the age of 2, should take antibiotics as little as possible. This is because young children need to keep their immune system built up. Giving antibiotics will cause the child’s body to depend on the medicine.
Antibiotics should be prescribed only after identifying a bacterial infection. So if your son has a sore throat, I hope he is tested for bacteria before the antibiotics are prescribed
If your son is really sick very often, then there may be no alternative.
Please make sure your son takes the complete cure, Stopping taking the medication after the symptoms disappear (after two or three days) can contribute to creating resistant strains of the bacteria.
Get another doctor’s opinion! Giving him to much will make him ammune to that antibiotic and then you will have to get a more expensive one.
It’s possible you may need a second opinion or a new Dr., when your son is ill, b/c there is no need for your son to be prescribed any antibiotics unless he has a positive culture showing he has a virus or bacterial infection. It’s also possible the reason he keeps getting ill is b/c he’s been given antibiotics so often, which isn’t allowing his body to learn to fight for itself.
It isn’t OK. GPs are not good if they do this. They need to go back to med school.
