How can I keep my family members with herpes from kissing me?

I don’t want herpes. I know a few of them have it, and loves to kiss my cheek and forehead! I don’t want to be rude to them. Any advice?

Some people use squirt guns to keep their cats off the counter. Maybe this same tactic will work to keep people’s lip outbreaks from touching your face.
Tell them,it is not being rude if you use tact and respect.

Tell them you would prefer not to kiss, but maybe to avoid awkwardness, don’t kiss anyone else or let anyone else kiss you while you are at the same place? I def wouldn’t sacrifice my health for someone’s feelings though if it came right down to it
You just have to tell them not to kiss you.
maybe just turn your head.. a lot. so they would get your hair? i would feel bad to say anything

i would tell them for sure. you mite hurt their feelings, but would you rather get herpes? that’s what it comes down to……..

There are two types of herpes virus, Simplex I (cold sores) and Simplex II (groin rashes).
You can’t get the oral kind from the genital kind unless there’s oral sex involved. You won’t get it from kisses on your forehead or cheek.
If your relative has an open infection, though, avoid skin contact and let that peson know you don’t appreciate those kisses.
You’ll be surprised how many people have herpes.

Your fears are totally unfounded.
You cannot contract the HSV2 virus that way. Herpes is passed by DIRECT skin to skin contact with a HOSPITABLE area. The HSV2 virus needs a very special environment to grow, specifically warm, moist places such as inside the mouth or around the genitals.
In order for you to be infected 1 of 2 things would have to happen:
1. Your family members would have to be having an outbreak in their mouth with sores or have asymptomatic shedding AND they’d have to give you a mouth to mouth deep lover’s kiss
OR
2. You would have to have sexual contact involving your mouth or genitals with your family members.
Do you do these things on a regular basis? I didn’t think so.
So relax! You won’t catch it. Believe me, I’ve worried about keeping people safe from my Herpes and after a ton of research and medical advisement, I found I had no need to worry.
I’m sorry to rain on your parade but in all probability, you already have it.
Herpes simplex 1 is one of the most common and most contagious viruses out there. An estimated 95% of the population has been exposed to it at some point…typically in childhood. It is no big deal. I have it…so do millions…and I do mean millions…of other people. Unless someone has an obvious cold sore (or fever blister), how are you going to know they don’t have it?
So…just relax…take a deep breath…and don’t sweat it. It’s nothing to worry about. Yes, a cold sore is unslightly. Just treat it with Abreva for a week or so until it goes away. That’s all you need to do. Don’t kiss anyone, share a toothbrush, sip from the same glass or anything like that when you have a cold sore.
As for genital herpes…that is a completely different story…

They should NOT be doing that, herpes is very contagious and you need to talk to them privately, one on one and just explain you prefer not to be kissed, period. You never know when they’re having an outbreak and once you get herpes, that’s it.
If you are talking genital herpes then you are either very uneducated or being a jerk. If someone has genital herpes you wont get herpes from kissing them, period. Since herpes is transmitted through direct contact of the sores SO you would only get cold sores if you kissed a cold sore with your mouth……… or a genital herpe for that matter I’ve never kissed a relative on the mouth … or genitals for that matter.
