herpes????

My cousin got this rash on his back and and stomach. He went to the doctor and they said it might be herpes or shingles. He’s not having sex so what are other ways of getting herpes? I feel so bad for him he’s so upset over it, he hasnt gotten the results yet. Any information will be nice.

Shingles is a form of the herpes virus not passed by sexual contact. It is very painful and can linger for some time for some people. Please let him know he didn’t do anything wrong and that this is a common ailment especially if he was really stressed when he contracted it. It is also the same virus that causes chicken pox and kids get that all the time. Good health.
the doc doesnt mean sexually transmitted herpes. Herpes is an umbrella term. Herpes Zoster is another name for shinges
Oh and ps, for whoever wrote that you can get herpes from talking with someone… no, you can’t
Shingles has got nothing to do with sex .
Its from the chicken pox virus and can be brought on through
nerves and worry. it can be very painful .but it will get better
with medication.
I really doubt it is herpes. It usually shows up in other places on your body. But I will say that the herpes virus can lay dormant in your body for years with out an outbreak. This sounds more like shingles to me. I think the doctor should have been able to tell just by looking at it. Herpes is not usually a rash.
Its probably shingles. He could have come in contact with virus through towels or other clothing articles. Herpes is very contagious and it can be passed by sharing stuff. In jr high there was an outbreak of herpes on the lips (cold sores) because people were drinking out of each other cups and probably from sharing lipsticks (not mention kissing). I believe that it can be passed through any type of contact.
There is a new airborne outbreak of herpes that scientists are still trying to learn about, thousands of people have been infected, even some whole families with rashs all over there bodies its sick. its gets worse and worse as time goes by, you should alert his doctor.
I’ve known guys that are wrestlers that have gotten herpes on their face from dirty wrestling mats. He could have gotten it anywhere (and not necessarily from sexual contact). Anyone who is infected with the herpes simplex virus and touches someting with an infected hand, mouth, etc.. can cross contaminate and spread it.
