Do you have to go for a follow up after taking medicine for chlamydia?
I just found out that I have chlamydia, and I was prescribed a one-time dosage of zithromax. The doc told me to wait two weeks before having sex. Do I need to go see the doc for follow up after my two weeks and before I have sex again?

Yes, b/c they are required to report you to the Health department & therefore the health department wants to know that you have been informed, have been treated & that you came up clear of the infection after treatment, so Yes you need to take the treatment & make sure it clears it up, also NO INTERCOURSE until complete treatment, otherwise you can spread the infection. If you have had intercourse before finishing treatment, your partner needs to be tested & you may have been reinfected.

After two week, you will have a result to see if you are negative for chlamydia.
Your doctor would have told you to make a follow-up appointment if you needed to. Those antibiotics are pretty powerful stuff and are guaranteed to kill the bugger. When I took the medicine I didn’t have a follow up. I didn’t get checked again until 6 months later and I came up clean. If you feel that you need to ease your mind, it does no harm in going ahead and making that appointment.
you don’t have to, but if i were you I would, just to make sure you’re healed…. the medicine isn’t always affective.
u can go back but just to make sure i think it is best to go back to check to see if the infection cleared up
