Can you get tested for an std for months and nothing ever shows up?

My boyfriend informed me that he had an std early on. I have been pregnant and getting tested regularly. Is it possible that the std he had back then I just got or did he receive it again.

Hi well u really need to know which STD u have coz some remain latent for years in fact then come forth all of a sudden in some cases.
If virus then it can come back anytime immune system is down so u both really need to be tested together for peace of mind Cheers ♥
It’s entirely possible that you did not contract the STD that your boyfriend had, but to better understand what your level of risk is there are many other types of questions that you should talk with a counselor about, such as:
- Which STD exactly did your boyfriend have? Contraction rates vary widely depending upon which STD is in question.
- Did you use protection or abstain from certain types of sexual contact?
- Did your boyfriend ever get treated?
- How long has it been since your first and last intimate contact with him during a time that you know he was infected?
- What type of testing did you get done?
Each type of STD has a "window period" where the STD may not show up during normal testing, since your body may not have had enough time to produce the antibodies that most tests look for. In addition, there are multiple types of tests for most STDs, and each particular test has it’s own "window period" that must have been achieved. For example, a standard HIV antibody test needs between 60 – 90 days to be over 99% accurate, whereas a DNA by PCR HIV test can test between 3 and 28 days.
As you can see, it can be confusing without all of the necessary details, but there are lots of organizations that you can talk to for free, and even get the appropriate testing if necessary. Here are a few reputable ones that I have worked with:
