My friends 2 1/2 m/o son has had thrush for 6 weeks. She has done both a round of gentian violet, and nystatin oral liquid, but nothing has worked. He took the diflucan about 5 days ago. Should a difference be noticed by now? Is mouth is raw, but still he has thrush. Everything has been boiled after each use. Why does he still have it?
Sry- I meant his mouth, not is mouth! lol.

I’m 22 years old. To my knowledge, I’ve never had a vaginal yeast infection- unless I somehow had one in my toddler years that I didn’t know about, or had one that went undetected since now. I actually didn’t even know the symptoms of the infection until I privately discussed my current problem with my mother. After researching it online, using Monistat and drinking Cranberry juice for the past four days, I’m actually starting to wonder if it’s a yeast infection at all.
My symptoms for the past four days has been a very mild watery discharge and painful burning spots on my vaginal vestibule. (They physically aren’t that noticeable however). I do not have a "smell", "thrush", or "redness" that has been described online, but it is painful to urinate.
Also, I haven’t been sexually active for a year, nor have I just started to be. I was thinking perhaps the sudden yeast infection has been the cause of too much beer drinking? I have no idea, but I’ll appreciate any comments on my personal issue. I suppose I should say I’ve never been to the OBGYN in my life, but will do so as soon as my Access card comes in the mail.
–Thanks xx

I’m doing an assignment for school and of all things my teacher decieded to get us to do it on thrush… yay (please note sarcasm, lol) anyway, I have a few questions that i can’t reall find straight answers for. They are quite simple questions but are just staying out of my reach. Could anyone help???
Well, here are the question:
1. Describe the treatment and prevention of thrush.
2. If the pathogen that causes candidiasis is in the bodies microflora all the time, explain why the disease is not always present, and describe the conditions under which the disease could develop.
3.Construct a flow diagram that includes illistrations
The last one especially is confusing. Please Help me!!!
By the way i’m in year 12.

I got thrush, possibly my body’s response to antibiotics. I wasn’t able to eat for a week, until today when i finally had soup. I know there are certain things i am not supposed to eat or drink, but my gums are itching like crazy. Would it be ok to swish H2O2? I have been taking my nystatin, yuck!, but i was also wondering if I HAD to finish it if the symptoms clear before i did. I hate that stuff sooo much!

Just wondering if I can put lanolin on my cracked nipples while I am being treated for thrush. I have heard from different people that I should and shouldn’t (because it promotes growth of more yeast) be used. Thanks!

My son is 20 days old and has thrush. I started giving him nystatin last night, so it hasn’t started working yet. I am putting it on my nipples also. But the pain is almost unbearable every time I have to feed him. I sit there and want to scream when he latches on. Does anyone know of anything that I can put on the nipples to help relieve some of the pain?
And please do not tell me to not breastfeed because that is just not an option.

Two days ago I started taking antibiotics to treat a bad case of tonsillitis which I got following a bout of the flu. Now I have thrush (and am also expecting to get hit by lightning tomorrow) and am wondering how would be best to treat it. I still have 5 days of antibiotics (penicillin VK) left to take, and so am wondering if I treat it now, will the thrush just be caused to return. Many thanks

I got thrush from inhaled steroids and also my immune system sucks. I’ve been on the oral lozenges, the mouthwash, and now the pills, all rx’d by my doc. My tongue is still white but not as bad as before, and it’s worse in the back mostly. What more can I do to get rid of this and how long do you think it will last? How long does it take to get rid of it?? Does a person EVER get rid of this stuff? ANY help will be appreciated!

Just wondering because I know that if you’re on a course of antibiotics, and stop halfway through, it kills off the weaker microbes and leaves the more resistant ones to spread, putting you in a worse position if anything. Does antifungal cream (used to treat thrush, athletes foot, etc) work in the same way?

My 7 week old daughter has a mild case of thrush, it doesn’t bother her at all but she has white patches on lower/upper inner lips, inner cheeks, and back of the tongue. Today she has been prescribed Nystatin by her pediatrician. I am bottle feeding and have been steam sterilizing everything after each use. How long does it normally take for Nystatin to clear up thrush? We are supposed to finish the entire bottle of medication even if it goes away just to make sure it does not return.
