A few months ago, I was screaming in pain from intense vaginal itching and burning…I could tell there was something wrong, but my husband took a look at me (he is a doctor) and said he saw no sign of candidiasis. I took some over the counter anti-fungals just in case. The next day, everything was swollen and very irritated, and there was like a yeast free for all down there. Urinating was a nightmare, and I eventually had to get a foley placed so I could pee. All the mucosa was eaten off, and it took me like 5 days on diflucan and 3 weeks to fully heal.
The same thing happened a second time when I was on my period a month or so later, but it was more like an allrgic reaction. I took a Diflucan right away, and it kept the infection away, but my eyes and mouth got really swollen.
Now this is the third and worst time. Lots of swelling, lots of Candida, lots of pain, little response to the Diflucan. My throat is also sore, and I’m short of breath. This…kinda blows.

Hi-dose antibiotics aren’t working for me. I have Mycoplasma and Chlamydia Pneumonias (at a "cellular/cryptic" level), Candidiasis and Epstien-Barr Virus. My blood level (titers) have gotten worse, even after a 3-month treatment with Zithromax, Valtrex and Diflucan. I’ve been having alot of pain and stiffness and am very sick/dysfunctional. Currently being treated at a specialty center for Fibro and Fatigue. This is causing me much emotional and financial stress. Suppose I should see an Infectious Disease specialist? If so, any suggestions on a physician of that type in the Akron, Ohio area?

Ever since I have joined the military 2 years ago, I have been suffering from reoccurring yeast infections and bacterial vaginosis. I have taken Diflucan (Fluconazole) and Metronidazole (flagyl) and every other medicine you can think of with no positive results. Anybody in the military knows that they don’t really try and get to the root of the problem, they will just give you the medicine and send you on your merry way. I read an article on using a clove of garlic and vaginally inserting it to cure yeast infections. Has anybody ever personally tried it? What are some other natural remedies that I can use to treat a yeast infection so that I won’t have to continually go back to medical?
I think what the problem stems from is the fact that when I work, I’m sweating and slaving for hours and all the moisture down there isn’t good. I only wear cotton underwear and I can change my underwear anywhere for 2-4 times a day because it’s so hot. I work on helicopters and so I don’t have the leisure of sitting all day in an air conditioned room.
Monika, I use to be in the medical field prior to joining the military and it is a fact that garlic is a somewhat natural antibiotic. Recall how Louis Pasteur used it in his laboratory studies when coming up with an effective way of killing of bacteria and certain fungi. Allicin, one main compound in garlic, effectively fights off infection. I just want to know if anybody has ever tried it and the results they’ve gotten back from it.

Hi Everyone,
About a month or so ago I got a yeast infection out of nowhere (ive had them before due to antibiotics). I used monistat 3 which didnt work, so i went to the dr. and got diflucan. I’ve never had an issue with monistat not working, and the diflucan took a full week to actually clear me of all symptoms. So i think it was a pretty stubborn infection. Since then i have been tkaing probiotics to help keep things at bay. However abotu 2 weeks ago i had that sudden itching again, but it lasted only abotu 24 hours and i was fine. And then about 2 days ago it was back with a vengance! Def more mild than the previous infection, but still very uncomfortable. Since monistat didnt work for me before, i thought i should go the natural route. I have been using yogurt (that tampon trick) for about 24 hours now and things really feel better. Yesterday I used the tampon twice and instantly i felt SOOOO much relief. I didnt use it at night, and this morning I woke up and it was back to being pretty itchy. Not horrible, but again, very uncomfortable. So I guess my question is:
1. How often should you use the tampon each day, and how long does it take to work normally?
2. Does the yogurt actually work to cure it or is it only soothing my symptoms?
*I really dont want to go to the dr. and get another pill of diflucan as I dont want to further help this thing build a resistance. I’ve also heard of garlic…does anyone know where I can get good garlic pills at like a pharmacy or gnc? I dont wanna buy online and wait days you know? Thanks!
*to Hope: Is there a difference between clotrimazole and that stuff in monostat…micanozole or whatever its called? I’m nervous to make it worse if i take the wrong thing.
** Ref. the trich..thanks, i didnt even think of that. However, aside from being in a relationship for over a year, I have had my normal gyno appt in recent months, as well as when i first went to the dr for the yeast infection. they did a culture and everything came back negative. If things dont clear up soon tho, i will prob go back and look into that option.

i had this intense itch, redness n whitish-yellowish discharge a few months ago, after a few days it subsided. i hope that it would eventually go away, but after months, the whitish-slightly yellowish discharge still remains, though the itching only occurs when the discharge accumulate too much in my underwear. otherwise, minimal itching, the swelling is not there too. i think it has gotten quite mild, but i wanted it to disappear completely.
after i went to see a gynae, he told me it’s most probably vaginal candidiasis and gave me a 150mg fluconazole(diflucan) tablet. it’s been two days now since i’ve taken it. how long will it take to clear up? what are the signs that the infection is receding? (remember my infection is not so serious) and how many days should i wait before i go to see the doctor again if it does not clear up?
I’m a medical student, have a pen-torch which i use with a mirror to see into my vagina. today there are still patches of whitish mucus in my vaginal, how long will it take for it to clear up?
it just happened out of the blue, not on any contraceptives pills or anything like that. 1 150mg fluconazole tablet is supposedly enough for vaginal candiasis( written on the information paper of the tablet)

I use the NuvaRing for birth control. I have a yeast infection. The miconazole cream says "this drug should not be used with other vaginal products", but don’t specify anything like the ring - only condoms and diaphrams.
I can’t use diflucan/fluconazole for this yeast infection, so please don’t suggest it.
I can’t take the NuvaRing out for long enough to use the cream, so please don’t suggest it.
Please note that this is an *internal* cream. I’m well aware that my vulva won’t explode if I apply it outside. I want to be able to take the applicator and apply the cream the way the instructions tell me to: inside my vagina.

I’ve had Candidiasis for like 3 yrs now and I’m running out of options. I also have Leaky Gut Syndrome due to my condition. Please give me serious advice, and if you don’t know what Candidiasis is, don’t respond please. I need serious answers only.
I’m scared and I feel so hopeless because normal meds like Diflucan have done nothing for me.
Help me…
Is it too late? Will I just die because there’s nothing I can do?

I don’t know what it is and I’m not going to the doctors for a few days. I thought it was a yeast infection since I’m on antibiotics, but the diflucan did nothing (I took it 4 days ago). I have a mucousy looking discharge that is sickly sweet smelling. It’s been very itchy, and it’s bloody from the scratching and the infection. The smell seems to get worse after I urinate. I’m having sharp pains in my side, though I’m not sure it’s related.
I’m sexually active, but I’m monogomous and he’s the only partner I’ve ever had. He had sex once before, but he said he was tested. We’ve always used a condom during vaginal intercourse.
I know you’re probably not doctors out there, but I was just hoping this sounds familiar to someone so I can have an idea of what it may be. Thanks.

Hello, I’ve come on here for some help. I have oral candidiasis, I just recently got it. the only thing i can remember that i would have got it from is from a Z pack i took because i was sick. but instead of taking just 3 i split them up into halves and took 6 total. over 6-7 days.
I was wondering how long does oral candidiasis last? ive ate alot of yogurt and ive taken asodopholius, or whatever thats called. for normal biota.
I took a diflucan about 6-7 days ago. and im not sure if its helping yet. because there really wasnt any white patches at that point because i caught it early. right now i only have the white patches at the back of my tongue and the underside of my tongue is colored slightly white. please help?

I’ve had a yeast infection for a little over a week now. I tried using monistat and it didn’t clear it up. I went to the doctor Friday and he confirmed it was a moderate to severe yeast infection and gave me Diflucan.
It’s been two days and I’m still having severe vaginal pain. The discharge has cleared up and so has the itching, but the pain around my vaginal entrance is the same if not worse. I don’t know whats causing it. This pain is killing me.
I haven’t had sex recently (he did finger me - stupid, I know) and I’m STD free (just got checked two weeks ago).
Has anyone not had Diflucan work? I have a second pill coming up in 5 days but I’m not sure I can stand this pain much longer.

I found out that I had yeast infection in August. I took my 4 treatments of Diflucan like my GYN prescribed but it still hasn’t gone away, I also 2 weeks of Boric Acid Capsules. But the thing is along with the whiteish discharge was a strong pungent odor, it isn’t fishy but it smells like "body odor", I shower regularly so I know for a fact that that isn’t it. I don’t douche either.
So my question is would you have any idea of what Infection I have? And also is it possible to have both a yeast infection and a bacterial infection?
Another thing is I’ve been taking acidophilus capsules 3 times a day,30 minutes before a meal, because I heard it helps alot with vaginal health. Any tips on how to get rid of the odor would help alot!
